Adam “DJ Addition” Dobrowolski started the journey in 1988. He always loved music, staying up late with his dad listening to old disco records and golden oldies, he soon would get family hand me down turntables and put them side by side with a radio shack mixer and so it began. In 1988, he started a rap group with some friends, and DJing for them, and soon started to DJ High School basketball games and dances. In 1990 he went off to college and got involved with the college radio station WKNH. Where he soon started New Hampshire’s first real rap radio show. He continued with his rap group and djing events, dances, etc. and then things slowly progressed with the radio show exposure. He quickly 1 year later became Asst. Music Director at WKNH, and then even just 1 yr after that in 1992 became the Music Director. Dealing with all the record companies he started building a reputation within the music industry. Addition then started djing also some major night clubs in the New Hampshire and Massachussetts area, and would continue his radio show “The Underground Powerjam” that would be listed in various magazines as one of the nations best well known radio shows. He reported his weekly charts and playlist to trades like HITS, CMJ, etc. In 1996, things really started growing, with starting also a dance mixshow right after his rap show and soon would become a BILLBOARD music reporter. He then was brought in to a music promotion company in Boston called Indi-Pro Promotions which handled promotions and marketing for several major record companies for the New England area. Addition’s connections would continue to grow, while keeping his radio shows, things just started taking off! In 1998, he decided to leave WKNH and did some part time shows, at some other stations like Rapstation and even a quick stint at another station in Fitchburg,MA WXPL FM.
That year (1998), several record companies on the east coast (Mercury, Elektra, etc.) decide to host the first ever Six State Affair Entertainment Awards where he received an award along with Industry greats like DJ Buck (WZMX), Skippy White, Al Lindstrom (AlLindstrom.com), to name a few. Addition continued working with such great labels at Indi-Pro such as MCA, Columbia, Bad Boy, to name a few. In 1999, he would receive his first Gold Record for his work on the Warren G “I Want It All” album off Restless Records.
Things continued as he then even started hosting and organizing along with industry great Nasty Nes (Sir Mix A Lot’s DJ/ Owner NastyMixx records) a yearly music showcase at the well known CMJ (College Music Journal) convention in Manhattan,NY.
In 2000, Addition received a Platinum record plaque from Priority records for his dedication to College Radio for the ’90’s Decade. Addition would go on to be very busy, running promotions in the Northeast for even more record companies (VP, Island/Def Jam, Epic, Ruffhouse, Atlantic, J Records, and more). In the 2000’s he went on to receive a Double Platinum Record Plaque for helping break Sean Paul and his album “Dutty Rock” and also Young Jeezy” Lets Get it” Platinum selling album.
